Big Blue Nation crushing Tennessee in blood drive
Nov 22, 2024
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Friday marks the final day for University of Kentucky fans to participate in the Big Blue Crush, an annual blood drive competition against Tennessee fans. The event encourages supporters to roll up their sleeves and donate blood to help save lives.
According to the Kentucky Blood Center (KBC), Thursday’s Day Four results show UK fans leading the competition with nearly 2,000 blood donations, compared to Tennessee’s less than 1,700.
KBC officials are encouraging fans to finish strong and donate on the last day of the drive. Donations can be made at any of the eight KBC blood donor centers or mobile blood drives. Participants will receive a free Big Blue Crush t-shirt, a coupon for free ice cream, and will be entered into a drawing for tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on November 30.
The friendly competition between the Wildcats and Volunteers not only shows school pride but also helps boost the region’s blood supply ahead of the holiday season.
