SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) –  It's helped turn one of Albuquerque's sleepy, older neighborhoods into one of the most popular spots to eat. Now, the people behind the Sawmill Market are taking their success to northern New Mexico. Jackie Apodaca. From Sawmill Market, 505 Central, Green Jeans, and more, food halls are popping up all across the Albuquerque metro. "Someone can eat Thai, another one can eat burgers," said Apodaca. Now, the owner of Sawmill Market is branching out to The City Different. "Santa Fe in general needed something like the food hall to attract various restaurants, businesses," said Apodaca. Apodaca said the Santa Fe space, just a block north of the plaza, will be different than the renovated Albuquerque Sawmill lumberyard they launched in 2020. "Used to be a bank space so it's a really unique space, and it has this beautiful six foot in diameter vault door that will become a future bar so it will be called the Vault," said Apodaca. Renderings for the more than 18,000 square foot Santa Fe Market show the vision for the vault and outdoor space. Right now, they're looking to house 18 local vendors. "We're really focusing on Santa Fe food offerings. We want basically to show the best and brightest of the chefs in Santa Fe and highlight those reasons to come to one location," said Apodaca. They hope to appeal not only to tourists but also to the entire community. "There's a lot of foodies in Santa Fe so I think we have three really big audiences that we're going to draw from to make this project successful," said Apodaca. Heritage Real Estate hopes to have the Santa Fe Market open in February 2026. They're also working on a second Albuquerque food hall in Uptown that should open by March.
