Remains of Charlotte Lester found, suspect arrested

EXETER, R.I. (WLNE) — The remains of a Rhode Island woman who disappeared in 2022 have been found, and a suspect has been arrested on a first-degree murder charge.
Warwick police arrested Mark Perkins, 64, of Warwick, on Wednesday morning at 9:14 a.m. after executing a search warrant issued based on new information in the case of the disappearance of Charlotte Lester.
Perkins is charged with first degree murder and is scheduled to be arraigned at Kent County District Courthouse at 2 p.m. on November 20.
The investigation remains active.
Charlotte Lester, an East Greenwich native, was last seen in the area of Arnold’s Neck Drive and Staples Avenue in Warwick on the evening of May 16, 2022.
Within a week after she went missing, her dog was found along Elmwood Avenue, and her red truck was found parked at Kent Hospital.
