GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A pedestrian walking along Highway 17 near Pawleys Island has died after being struck by a vehicle. Lance Cpl. Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened just after 3 a.m. Wednesday near Egret Run Lane. The pedestrian and a 2018 Buick Encore were both headed south on Highway 17 when they collided. Trooper Butler said the pedestrian was injured and taken to a local hospital where they later died. The driver of that Buick was not injured. Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
