MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- This weekend, the City of Memphis celebrated two of its hip-hop legends. Rap duo 8Ball and MJG were honored after the city renamed the corner of Park Avenue and Airways Boulevard after them. Memphis Mayor Paul Young, Police Chief CJ Davis and the community were in attendance in Orange Mound to celebrate 8Ball and MJG by renaming a prominent intersection after the legends. Their legacy began in 1993 when they released their debut album Comin' Out Hard. Memphis honors hip-hop duo 8Ball and MJG with a street naming ceremony. While speaking with WREG, 8Ball admitted that he was emotional during the event and expressed his heartfelt gratitude. Humane Society of Memphis hosts year’s largest fundraiser "We don't get a lot of things," 8Ball said. "So, to get something that's this immense, it means something." The recognition comes years after their 2018 induction into the Memphis Hall of Fame. Memphis honors hip-hop duo 8Ball and MJG with a street naming ceremony. MJG said he feels like this honor is just as important. "Man, it's unbelievable and it's up there together. It just shows what you can get with consistency hard work and just believing in yourself," MJG said. "Have a vision and you could come from the same place and go far. Just believe in yourself, you are your best help and if you don't believe in yourself, you can be your worst enemy."
