Suspect in custody after early morning shooting in Steuben County

ORLAND, Ind. (WANE) — The Orland Town Marshal's Office is investigating an early morning Sunday shooting.
Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, the Orland Town Marshal's Office was notified of a shooting at the intersection of Barry St. and State Road 327 in Orland, Steuben County. It was later found to have occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, according to a social media press release.
Preliminary investigation revealed that 18-year-old Gentry Longfellow was the backseat passenger of a vehicle turning southbound onto SR 327 from Barry St. Then Nathan Sanders, an area resident according to the marshal's office, shot into the vehicle. The shot struck Longfellow in the back.
Longfellow was taken to an area hospital for his injuries, his condition is unknown at this time.
No information on whether Sanders was in or outside a vehicle is known at this time. Additionally, no information on the driver or any other injuries has been made available. Sanders is currently held at the Steuben County Jail for charges related to the shooting, according to the marshal's office.
Any criminal charges are merely an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
