While we had some breaks from the rain produced by what's left of Hurricane Helene on Saturday, the rain is falling, again, for Sunday. You can expect occasional periods of rain to fall throughout the day. Our sky remains cloudy, but the potential is there to see some occasional sun here or there throughout the day. Additional rainfall amounts today will be less than a quarter-inch, but in the heavier rain bands, which are most likely south of Fort Wayne, there could be totals a little higher. Rainfall amounts from 10 pm Saturday through 11 pm Sunday will be around a quarter-inch or less across the region. The strong, gusty winds that the remnants of Helene brought Friday are not a big factor in our area anymore. Our top Friday gust was close to 50 mph, reported at FWA! As the remnants of Helene continue to weaken, our conditions will lessen, but will still be noticeable at times with gusts up to 25 mph for Sunday. Sunday's top wind gusts will be around 25 mph from the northeast. Our morning starts off with lows in the mid-to-upper 60s across the area. A relatively warm start to the day, thanks to overcast skies. The best chances for rain will be through this morning, especially south of Fort Wayne. Rain becomes more scattered as you head north. Morning temps start in the upper 60s by 11 AM, and into the 70s for the afternoon. The periods of rain that fall during the day will become more and more scattered by evening. By Monday, we'll be left with only a slight chance of a sprinkle or two. Monday's highs will be in the mid-70s. Temperatures stay in the 70s to start the spooky month of October. However, a cold front moves through then, bringing us down into the upper 60s on Wednesday. That does not last long as we get back into the 70s for the rest of the week. More 60s for highs are on the horizon, however. Sunday: Cloudy. Periods of rain through the day.
