PGE: 4 Bay Area counties to experience possible power shutoffs

(KRON) -- Thirteen counties across California, including four in the Bay Area, will experience possible power shutoffs in the coming week, PG&E announced.
The power utility cites an elevated fire risk as the cause of the possible shutoffs, with over 13,000 customers possibly being impacted.

Starting Monday, Public safety power shutoffs are possible in Alameda, Contra Costa, Napa, and Sonoma counties, with approximately 1,000 Bay Area customers being impacted.
PG&E says 14 community resource centers will be available in the affected counties, with the following locations in the Bay Area:
Castro Valley (Alameda County), Castro Valley Library, 3600 Norbridge Ave., Oct. 1, 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
Livermore (Alameda County), Costco Wholesale Livermore, 2800 Independence Dr., Sept. 30 4 p.m.- 10 p.m.
Calistoga (Napa County), Calistoga Community Center, 1307 Washington Street, Sept. 30 4 p.m.- 10 p.m.
Sonoma (Sonoma County), Hanna Boys Center, 1700-17100 Arnold Dr., Sept. 30 4 p.m.- 10 p.m.
Customer notifications via texts email, and automated phone calls began Saturday, PG&E said, claiming the Possible Power Shutoff (PSPS) is expected to last through Tuesday.
PSPS have also been issued in the following counties across California, according to PG&E:
Butte
Colusa
Glenn
Humbolt
San Luis Obispo
Santa Barbara
Shasta
Tehama
Trinity
Glensone Rancheria
Pit River Tribes
Tehama County is expected to have the most affected customers at about 1,927. Information on the resource centers in these counties can be found here.
"Once severe weather has passed, and it is safe to do so, PG&E will work quickly and nimbly to patrol and inspect lines and restore power for customers as soon as possible," PG&E said.
