• Case Western Reserve’s football schedule is without question back loaded with the top teams in its conference. So the Spartans are doing what they are expected to early this season, and that’s taking care of business. On Sept. 28, Case rolled to another big win — this one, 56-14, over Geneva in Beaver Falls, Pa. The Spartans are averaging 53 points en route to a 3-0 start and have allowed 27 points on defense. Against Geneva, they scored 28 first-quarter points then 21 more in the second for a 49-7 halftime lead. Alex Fromberg threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns — three to Ethan Dahlem (5 catches, 160 yards) and another to NDCL’s Noah Coyne (five catches, 61 yards). • Mount Union (3-0) traveled to Berea and rolled to a 52-14 win over Baldwin Wallace (3-1). QB Noah Beaudrie threw for 282 yards and two TDs and ran for 109 yards and another score. Beaudrie’s backup — freshman Mike Maloney of Riverside — threw his first career college TD pass on a 13-yard completion to Tyrell Sanders. He was 2 of 2 for 20 yards and added 40 rushing yards on four carries. • Visiting Northwood scored 27 points in the second quarter and rolled to a 55-20 win over Lake Erie College. Running back Krys Riley-Richardson scored on a 1-yard run for the Storm (1-3) and receiver Tae’Shaun Johnson caught TD passes of 5 and 53 yards.
