A 16-year-old girl escaped a reported kidnapping attempt near the Coronado Public Library on Friday afternoon and the alleged suspect was arrested shortly thereafter, the Coronado Police Department said on Instagram. The teen was waiting for the bus in the park area near the library when a man approached her and demanded that she get into his car, according to the social media post. The suspect grabbed the girl’s arm but she was able escape, the police department said. The teen then called 9-1-1 at around 1:30 p.m. and provided dispatchers with a detailed description of the man’s vehicle and license plate. Officers located the suspect, 45-year-old Nan Wang, in a car about a block away. Wang was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and annoying/molesting a child. He is being held at San Diego Central Jail on $100,000 bail, county jail records show.
