BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Jeremy Zellner was elected to serve his seventh two-year term as the Erie County Democratic Committee chair, the organization announced Saturday. Zellner started out as a party volunteer in 2003 and was elected as the committee's chairman in 2012, making him the second-longest serving chair in modern times, behind Joseph Crangle, the ECDC said. Before becoming chair, Zellner was the committee's executive director and Democratic chief of staff at the County Legislature. He was also nominated for another four-year term as the Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner, a position he has held since 2017. "Together, we have become the dominant party in Western New York, free of the internal divisions of the past with a remarkable record of success,” Zellner said in a release. “And the best is yet to come as we make Erie County bluer than ever for Kamala Harris, keep Mike Keane as District Attorney, send our new Vice Chair April Baskin to the state Senate, and elect Kara Buscaglia and Jeff Harrington to Family Court.” The organization also elected Erie County Legislature Chair April Baskin, Town of Tonawanda Democratic Chair John Crangle Jr., Adam Fogel, Karen Hoak, Howard Johnson Jr., Lavonya Lester, Buffalo Common Councilmember Mitch Nowakowski, Amelida Ortiz-Weinmann and Benjamin M. Swanekamp as vice chairs. Secretary Jennifer Hibit and Sergeant-at-Arms Ivory Payne were also reelected. Olivia Owens waselected as the committee's new treasurer. For more information, click here.
