MEMPHIS, Tenn. — With the guilty verdict on all counts for Justin Johnson, there was plenty of reaction from all sides. The state says this is what justice looks like, while the defense is looking to “fight’ the jury's decision. But for the family of Young Dolph, they say this verdict will help find a pathway to heal Carlissa Brown, Young Dolph’s sister, applauded the verdict, while facing the realization she’ll never see her brother again. "We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed being a father and spending time with his family," she said. The jury deliberated for four hours Thursday afternoon, finding Justin Johnson guilty on all charges in the murder of the Memphis rapper. The decision comes nearly three years after Dolph was gunned down at a cookie shop. "I can't say that we're happy, we're overjoyed anything like that, but it's the start of a process being served for someone who we lost that was some of everything to everyone," said Danielle Reid, the Thorton family publicist. The district attorney's office calling the verdict a victory. "Justice has been done at least so far and our principle is to make sure everyone who is responsible for Young Dolph's death is held accountable," DA Steve Mulroy said. But the defense says, it'll use all legal avenues to appeal "The rest of his life is at stake, obviously so it's high stakes," said Luke Evans, Justin Johnson's attorney. "He’d hoped the jury would have reasonable doubt about the man behind the mask who fired the fatal shots." The prosecution says there was no doubt. "We heard testimony. The car had been wiped down and cleaned, we know it was moved and everything else and we were able to explain to the jury why here individuals those fingerprints were in that car," prosecutor Paul Hagerman said. Johnson's sentencing on two other counts will be Nov. 1. Meanwhile the state says it'll now turn it’s attention to the other defendants, Cornelius Smith and Hernandez Govan, whose next hearing is set for Oct. 9.
