OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - The Oshkosh Police Department is urging citizens to delete a specific email scam that has been going around, reportedly filled with blackmail-like statements. According to a release, the email consists of somebody claiming that they have footage of the recipient doing something/watching something due to Malware, and they're demanding financial compensation in order to not release the footage. The email threatens that if they ignore the message, the sender will send the video to all of their contacts, but if they pay them, they'll be kept 'confidential.' Two abducted kids found in northern Wisconsin, suspect taken into custody The scam also added that any of these payments must be made in Bitcoin. Anybody who receives such an email should immediately delete it, according to the Oshkosh Police Department. No more details are available at this time.
