OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is still caring for a kitten after three were found left in a plastic bag outside the Winnebago Mental Health Institute on Sunday. The release said that a staff member at the facility found the plastic bag in the parking lot, and one was "allegedly already deceased when they were found." The other kittens were taken in by the Humane Society. One of the kittens had to be rushed to a hospital due to being in distress. Unfortunately, it had to be euthanized due to its severe lack of neurological symptoms. Horse in Wisconsin tests positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis, first since 2021 The third and final kitten is still alive, and being cared for at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society. Ieva Engel, the Oshkosh Area Humane Society's Executive Director added that people who need to surrender a pet should reach out. "If you're in need of surrendering kittens, cats or other animals, please reach out to us," Engel said. "We will work with you and find a way to figure out a way to help you, but please do not leave them in plastic bags or cardboard boxes outside." The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is asking anybody with information to notify them if possible.
