BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A woman from Denham Springs recalls the moment she was pinned by a truck. The incident happened on Aug. 24 on Joe May Road.    Amber Nicole Pace was going fishing with her boyfriend when they realized the brakes on his truck were not working.   "We were coming down Joe May Road and we were coming up to the stop sign, probably about a quarter of a mile from the stop sign I would say, and he realized the brakes weren't working, he was starting to tap them," said Pace. Pace said her boyfriend decided to drive into an empty field. However, the tires hit a ditch and caused the truck to roll two times.   New Baton Rouge General clinic helps treat patients with autoimmune diseases "I ended up hitting the windshield and when I come back from the windshield, we were rolling a second time and that's when I came out of the truck," said Pace. Pace said she could feel her bones crunching and she could hardly breath. She was pinned by the truck. Her boyfriend was able to pick up the truck with all of the strength he had. He was only suffering from a minor cut.   "He hollered at me to get out because that was all he had in him to pick it up and I pushed with everything in me, with my arms. I have a broken shoulder blade, a broken humerus, and my elbow is broken as well," said Pace.  Pace was airlifted to Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. Doctors told her she had nearly 30 broken bones in her upper body.  Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
