ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Morning clouds and showers have given way to partial clearing across parts of WNY, some of our first blue sky all week. A frontal boundary has shifted our wind to the north, which in conjunction with our clearer skies will combine to create a much chillier night. Most locations will drop into the lower and middle 50s. Pretty amazing to realize some of our cloud cover south of Rochester is being at least partially influenced by Helene over 1,000 miles away. Big hurricane = big footprint. pic.twitter.com/ZJ5IuVYd1w— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) September 26, 2024 In a "normal" setup, this would pave the way to sunshine for the next several days. But this isn't normal. Powerful Hurricane Helene, still over 1,000 miles to our south, is so large it's flinging moisture and cloud cover this far northward. High clouds will build into our Friday with highs into the 70s. Our weekend, which would have otherwise been nice and sunny, now looks mostly cloudy with a slight chance of light rain showers. To be clear, the overall flavor of the weekend isn't awful. Any rain (if you get any in the first place) will be quite light and quick-hitting. Don't cancel anything, just now the visuals won't be as sparkling. 8-Day Forecast
