A ninth-grade student suffered a severe beating Tuesday afternoon after he left school, police said. The attack near Trenton Ninth Grade Academy allegedly involved at least eight assailants who knocked the teen on the ground then kicked and punched him repeatedly. A police spokeswoman confirmed the report of the incident, saying the boy’s mother phoned Dispatch at approximately 2:23 p.m. She said she and her son were in a taxi and headed to Capital Health East on Chambers St. The police spokesperson said a detective interviewed the boy and mother at the emergency medical facility. An initial report noted the boy had suffered a broken front tooth and had bruises on his face and torso. An investigation continues although the victim, who started classes at The Ninth Grade Academy this week, told police he did not know the other boys.
