Mass. (WWLP) - Up until Thursday, this September has been a very dry month. The 22News Storm Team is working for you with a look at just how dry it's been. We're finally getting some much-needed rain after what has been a very dry stretch of weather for us here in western Massachusetts. Until Thursday we hadn't seen any really measurable rainfall since the beginning of the month. Some lawns have been turning yellow and brown and river levels have been getting pretty low. For the month of September we've only picked up a little more than 3 tenths of an inch of rain, not counting what fell Thursday. According to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, that just came out, all of western Massachusetts is now in the abnormally dry category. It does not take into consideration the rain we're getting right now. After Thursday it looks like the dry weather will be returning for the weekend.
