LAS VEGAS, N.M. (KRQE) – An investigation is underway into hazardous chemical storage at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas. It comes after a custodian for the school's Ivan Hilton Science Building died last week. The university says reports of chemical spills date back to July 16 and the building was shut down on September 3. it's unclear so far if the custodian's death is tied to the spills. The New Mexico Department of Health is urging employees having unusual symptoms to go to the doctor. This is a developing story, KRQE News 13 will provide updates as they become available.
