The unseasonably warm weather continues into Friday with more record and near-record high temperatures for parts of the state. The warm weather will continue into the beginning of October. It's been yet another very warm afternoon all across New Mexico. Farmington, Gallup, and Santa Fe have all broken or tied record high temperatures this afternoon. Albuquerque was just two degrees away from a record high temperature, nearly hitting 90°. Dry weather continues across the entire state as well, but that will change Friday with a weak backdoor front moving in. That front will spark spotty showers and thunderstorms in the northern mountains, into parts of east-central, and northeast New Mexico. However, most of this rain will evaporate before reaching the ground and that could result in locally strong wind gusts. It's going to be another hot day Friday, with more record and near-record high temperatures in Albuquerque, and in western/northwestern New Mexico. The cold front will bring a breezy east wind into Albuquerque by Friday evening, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Despite the cold front, it is still going to be a very warm weekend all across New Mexico. Highs may only be a couple degrees cooler both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Another round of record and near-record high temperatures are likely on Monday, when Albuquerque will once again hit 90°. Another cold front will move through the state from the northeast late Monday night through early Tuesday morning. This could bring a stronger wind into the Rio Grande Valley. It will also bring another slight cool-down for the first day of October, but warmer weather returns again for the rest of next week.
