MANSFIELD, Mass. (WLNE) — A student brought a BB gun and a knife into a Mansfield Middle School on Sept. 24 and parents of students at the school said they are concerned about the incident. “I was flying home and I got an email from the school that there was an incident,” Kellie Ansermoz said. “I clicked on it and it advised that a student was apprehended at the school with a BB gun and a knife. A student at Harold Qualters Middle School in Mansfield walked into school with two weapons. “I would like to know and have some transparency around what are the consequences in Mansfield Public Schools if a child shows up to school with a weapon,” Ansermoz said. The school district shared in a statement with ABC 6 that a student became aware that another student was in possession of a BB gun and knife and administration was notified immediately. “I think what went through my mind first was shock,” Ansermoz said. “Because you never expect that to happen in your child’s school, and then I was scared to make sure and concerned for my child.” A letter sent to parents of middle school students said the student and the weapons were secured and police were informed immediately. The student has not identified, but that’s not what Ansermoz is concerned about. “Not that I expected details about the actual incident or the student, but some transparency into what the school’s protocol is would have been appropriate,” she said. The superintendent did share that the school department and police are investigating the incident. Categories: Massachusetts, News
