Two abducted kids found in northern Wisconsin, suspect taken into custody

BARRONETT, Wis. (WFRV) - After a multi-county search through northern Wisconsin on Wednesday, two children who had allegedly been abducted were safely found and a suspect was taken into custody.
According to the Barron County Sheriff's Office, deputies were notified by the Ashland Police Department about a six-year-old and a three-year-old who were reportedly abducted from the Ashland area. Deputies learned of the possible abduction around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25.

While deputies began their search with help from the Department of Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin DNR, and staff from the Scout Reservation, information was provided that the children may be in the Barronett area.
With additional help from the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, authorities were able to find the suspect's vehicle. The suspect was identified as Gage Ackley Dechant, a 30-year-old from Drummond.
Shortly after, the two children were found, as well as Dechant. Authorities say Dechant was then taken into custody. The children were taken to a local hospital to check their welfare and to be reunited with their family.

It was noted that Dechant was taken to the Barron County Jail on a probation warrant.
