  COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– A Columbia man was sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession with the intent to distribute both crack and marijuana, said the DOJ. Evidence obtained in the investigation revealed that the Columbia Police Department’s Organized Crime and Narcotics Unit received an anonymous complaint about the sale of illegal narcotics at a home on House Street. The complainant stated there was constant foot and vehicle traffic at the home which people were only saw being at the home for minutes at a time. Based on the information provided from the complainant, investigators said a confidential informant was sent to the home on two different occasions to purchase weed. Law enforcement said during both occasions the confidential informant purchased the weed from 52-year-old Lontre Jason Wise. Additionally, based on the complaint and controlled purchases, a search warrant was obtained for the home and executed by CPD in December 2022. During the search, police said they located Wise and took him into custody on arrest warrants for the distribution of marijuana. Wise was searched and the police found a clear container containing crack cocaine on him. A search of the residence by officers found a black book bag that contained a large clear plastic bag of marijuana. Also, the book bag contained a 9mm caliber handgun and a .38 caliber revolver. The police located a safe which Wise admitted to officers was his, underneath a couch with a black pouch that contained pieces of crack cocaine, Wise’s South Carolina driver’s license, social security card, debit card, and money. There were multiple hand rolled cigars containing marijuana found throughout the living room of the home and on a plate on the couch. He was sentenced to 156 months imprisonment which is to be followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision. Categories: Local News, Richland Tags: Columbia Police Department
