(CRESTED BUTTE, Colo.) — It may be fall, but in Colorado, it still feels like summer at times, and to cool off while on his trek across Gunnison County this week, FOX21 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Matt Meister decided to get the 'scoop' on New Zealand-style ice cream being served up mountain style in Crested Butte. Chillberg Real Fruit Ice Cream recently opened shop and is run by retired couple, Ben and Laura McLoughlin. The couple learned about the style of ice cream while traveling in New Zealand and decided to dish it out mountainside in Colorado. New Zealand-style ice cream starts with a vanilla base of either ice cream, yogurt or a non-dairy alternative that is then mixed with a cup of fresh, frozen fruit and blended up to enjoy. Matt spoke with Laura McLoughlin about what it's like to live and own a business in Crested Butte. "It's just a little slower pace, you know plan to park your car, take the bus, walk, and we don't have a lot of parking," said McLoughlin. "But, you might see a bear, you might see a hawk, it's living. Come on up and have a New Zealand-style Real Fruit Ice Cream and enjoy the sunshine and clean air!"
