(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo Rescue Mission (PRM) reported on Wednesday, Sept. 25 that one of its employees had allegedly committed financial misconduct. PRM is a nonprofit organization that provides the homeless with different resources such as shelter, food, and residential programs. According to PRM, they recently uncovered evidence that a senior employee had committed alleged financial misconduct. PRM said the employee had taken funds directly from several individuals who were staying at PRM and "working hard to get their lives on track and moving in the right direction." The nonprofit said they conducted a thorough internal investigation and found the employee's actions had violated the organization's financial policies and standards of conduct. "We take the integrity of the organization and the trust of our community and stakeholders very seriously," wrote Pueblo Rescue Mission on Facebook. "As soon as the issue was identified, we took immediate action to address the situation. The individual involved has been relieved of their duties, and appropriate legal actions are actively being pursued." PRM also said they are implementing enhanced financial controls and reviewing processes to prevent any future occurrences such as this one. "Our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of ethical behavior remains unwavering," PRM wrote. "We want to assure the Pueblo community that we will continue to act in the best interest of those we serve."
