CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County Parks will close its facilities at 5 p.m. Thursday due to severe weather. Hurricane Helene, which is forecast to strike Florida’s Big Bend on Thursday, will have wider impacts with heavy rain, gusty wind, and isolated tornadoes expected across South Carolina through early Friday morning. Charleston County Parks said it will have a delayed opening on Friday so that staff can assess the condition of its parks once the weather threat has passed. CCPRC said the campground at James Island County Park will remain open to registered guests.
