BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Another hot day in Kern County; however, Wednesday we stayed right under the century mark.
Bakersfield reached a high of 99°, just 4° shy of the record of 103° set in 1899. Starting Thursday, we'll see a slight cool down with temperatures dropping to the low 90's. Another warm-up is in store for us this weekend with temperatures in the upper 90's this Saturday.
Air quality improves Thursday to the moderate category. Unfortunately, Florida is facing considerable flash and urban flooding due to Helene as a category one hurricane, as of Wednesday night. Dangerous storm surge, surf, rip currents, and damaging winds are expected in Florida as early as Thursday.
Locally, next week, it looks like we will experience another warm-up with a few days in the triple digits once again starting Tuesday.
