Central Ohio Weather and Radar QUICK WEATHER FORECAST: Tonight: Showers late, becoming breezy late, low 68 Friday: Rain likely, becoming breezy to windy, high 75 Saturday: On & off rain showers, high 75 Sunday: Showers around, high 74 Monday: Sct'd rain showers, high 74 FORECAST DISCUSSION: Good Thursday Evening, It has been another gray day, with thick clouds, and temps still a degree or two above normal for this time of the year. We are now on Hurricane watch, as Major Hurricane Helene is set to make landfall this evening/tonight in the Big Bend region of Florida. This storm is currently moving at a very quick pace for a storm of this size. This means that with the outer rain shield of this storm already approaching the Ohio River, we will see rain showers possible in the morning hours on Friday, with winds picking up. It will generally be a breezy day on Friday, with wind gusts the strongest in the southwest part of the state. Wind gusts will generally peak in the 30s(mph) around much of Central Ohio on Friday, with some peak gusts in the west and southwest part of the state in the 40-50+mph range. Rain also looks to pick up late morning and into the afternoon on Friday. Expect breezy, and wet conditions for the FFN games on Friday night. With highs in the mid 70s on Friday, we will only drop to the lower 70s on Friday night, but again, it will be wet and breezy, so cooler feeling. The hurricane will weaken Friday night and interact with an upper low to our southwest. This will actually turn the remnant low to the west, but because of the size of this storm, will keep rain in the area through the weekend. Eventually, the storm will shear apart, and weaken. This moisture will continue to finally start to get pulled to the east, so more of us will see rain showers on and off through the weekend and into early next week. Temps will generally be near normal in the mid 70s into next week. Overnight lows will be quite warm due to clouds and high humidity. Expect some clearing on Tuesday, before rain and a few storms late with a cold front. Highs Tuesday will be in the upper 70s. Expect clearing skies, and cooler temps on Wednesday with highs in the lower 70s. We will have more sunshine, a crisp start on Thursday and highs back in the mid 70s in the afternoon. -Dave
