We can go round and round if we want. We’re not even going to mess with that. Frank’s tough. He’s tough as nails. If anybody can play through it, it’s him. I think we’ve got to be smart. It’s early in the year. We’ve got a lot of football left.” Ragnow suffered a partially torn pectoral during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. While he was able to finish out the game, it’s a serious enough injury that it’s little surprise that the Lions are shutting him down for at least one game. It’s possible that’s all he’ll miss—the Lions have a bye week next week. In the meantime, it remains to be seen how the Lions will respond to Ragnow’s injury. The most likely scenario remains moving Graham Glasgow from left guard to center, then having one of their reserve interior offensive linemen—be it Kayode Awosika, Michael Niese, or Colby Sorsdal—sliding into guard. Replace Ragnow won’t be easy. He’s been in the conversation for best center in the league for several years. And while Glasgow has plenty of experience at center, he only started two games there last season, and started the final nine games of 2022 at center for the Broncos. Detroit’s other option at center, Niese, has never played an offensive snap at the NFL level.
