ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) -- Andrew Joslyn definitely doesn’t back down from a challenge. Since joining Scouts at five years old, he’s crushed every task put in front of him to now hold all 139 badges he could possibly get in the program. "I’m extremely competitive. I love, pushing myself as hard as I can and just setting a goal and reaching it," Andrew explains. He says his favorites were the ones to do with getting out in the water. "I’ve always been into water activities since I was young. I really enjoyed scuba diving. I got to go in a quarry and mess around with a bunch of fish!" he says. It certainly shows as Andrew is already in the thick of another challenge at Newport Yacht Club. After checking off every other box, Andrew decided to tackle Sea Scouts—a program off the coast of the traditional scouting route which teaches boating skills, safety, and survival. He says everything he learns gives him another option to apply to his future. And he’s ready to fall in line for his next challenge. "Maybe in my future to join the military. I love helping people. It’s one of the best parts about Boy Scouts. Is seeing other people improve, and knowing that I have the ability to, I believe, be a good leader is really reassuring," he says. Congratulations, Andrew!
