As the Coastal Empire braces for the storm, there are some important tips to help you stay safe and ensure you're ready for anything that comes your way.Experts urge you to take note of your essential items.Make sure you're prepared for potential power outages.It also is a good idea to check in with neighbors to see if they need assistance.Here are some easy preparation tips: Charge your devices. This includes cell phones, and portable chargers. Keep your doors and windows closed to maintain temperature in your house. You can retain temperatures for as long as 48 hours. Create an emergency supply kit with canned food, flashlights and batteries. These are some of the supplies that can help you and your family when without electricity or running water. "It is best to be prepared as you can. After a storm, you want to avoid any downed power lines you want to make sure you don't remove any tree limbs or avoid any standing water that could possibly be energized that don't look like it," said Alicia Brown, a spokesperson for Georgia Power. Don't forget sandbags are available in locations around the Coastal Empire. You can go to the Enmarket Arena today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.In Richmond Hill, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Lot on Timber Trail has sand. On Tybee Island, you can get sand at Memorial Park.
