HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A trial date has been set for Naseem Roulack, the inmate of Greensville Correctional Center who escaped from a hospital while in police custody in August 2023 and was captured two months later by authorities. Roulack's two-day jury trial for his charge of escaping a correctional facility is scheduled to start on Monday, Dec. 2, in Henrico County Circuit Court, according to the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). When he escaped from Bon Secours Saint Mary's Hospital in the morning on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, he was serving a 13-year sentence for aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny and hit-and-run. A week after Roulack’s escape, a resident who lives near the hospital told 8News he found a “sopping wet” gown on the floor of his home just hours after the notification of Roulack’s escape and found broken glass along with the door of his basement ajar. Roulack was said to be under the supervision of two department security officers who admitted to being asleep during the time of his escape. The officers resigned from their duties less than two weeks after his getaway. VADOC announced Roulack’s capture on Oct. 25, 2023. In the morning, he was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Fairfax County Police Department in a hotel in Fairfax County. Roulack was said to have tried to run away once again by jumping from a third-floor window with an assault rifle in hand. Authorities said that during this process, Roulack injured his arm, dropped the gun and ran away before he was captured.
