PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man has been sentenced to prison for killing his estranged wife back in 2017, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha announced on Thursday. Bosco Tukamuhabwa, 53, was convicted in June of domestic second degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Maniriho Nkinamubanzi, as well as violation of a no-contact order. He was given a 60-year sentence, with 45 years to serve at the ACI and the rest suspended with probation, Neronha said. BACKGROUND: Memorial service held for woman allegedly murdered by husband In November 2017, Nkinamubanzi's children found her dead inside a closet one day after reporting her missing to police. Detectives were able to link Tukamuhabwa to the crime through DNA evidence and phone records. "Domestic abusers perpetuate a cycle of control and violence, which can unfortunately escalate into irreparable tragedy," Neronha said in a press release. "Ms. Nkinamubanzi deserved a to live a full life, free of the persistent threat of violence, and the defendant stole that from her. I hope this sentence brings Ms. Nkinamubanzi’s children some measure of peace and closure."
