PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) -- An all clear has been given at Norfolk Naval Shipyard after an initial report of an active shooter situation. The update over the shipyard's speakers came just minutes after the shipyard announced on social media that they were on lockdown. "Active threat has been secured. Secure from lockdown. All inbound and outbound traffic for the installation is back in normal operations," NNSY later announced. 10 On Your Side's Andy Fox did confirm through shipyard officials that the shelter in place was first issued after a gun was found in a car at the shipyard. Though after the gun was found and confiscated, shipyard authorities still had to check on another reported situation. Until the second reported incident was checked out, shipyard officials told employees to continue to shelter in place. It's still unclear what the second report entailed, and whose gun was confiscated, but 10 On Your Side is working to learn more. Check back for updates on this breaking news.
