MEMPHIS, Tenn -- A man is now in jail after being accused of stealing over $17,000 worth of items from containers on a train back in April. On April 23, at 8:54 p.m., officers responded to a call about multiple people breaking into containers of a CSX train in Midtown on York and Tanglewood Street. According to reports when an officer arrived, the train was moving but still on the scene. When the officer walked to the end of York, a white Chevrolet cargo van with a black hood drove at a high speed with no lights on towards the officer. Arrest made after $61K worth of TVs stolen in train heist Police say the officer jumped out of the way to avoid being hit by the van. The Chevrolet van continued east on York then south on Cooper until it was out of sight. Officers found Tory Burch shoes, 45, 50-inch Insignia televisions, and 18, 43-inch TCL televisions valued at $17,100 on the railroad tracks. On April 29, officers found the van belonged to Antonio Jackson. His probation officer provided a number that she speaks with him regularly on. MPD says they drove to an address on the 4000 block of Barron Avenue, and they found the same white Chevrolet van with Jackson standing at the driver's door. Reports show a search warrant was obtained for cell phone records. On June 15, Jackson's phone records showed him near York and Tanglewood Street during the time the train was being burglarized.
