UPDATE: THURSDAY 9/26/2024 10:52 a.m. (COLORADO SPRINGS) — Ashley Franco, Colorado Springs Fire Department's (CSFD) Public Information Officer gave an update on the three-alarm fire at The Vue at Spring Creek Apartments in Colorado Springs on Thursday morning, Sept. 26 at around 10:30 a.m. According to Franco, crews were called to the fire at 9 a.m. on Thursday and arrived on the scene about four minutes later. A second-alarm was called almost immediately when crews arrived, and a third-alarm was called a short time later allowing more resources to assist in putting the fire out. Right now it's unknown how many people will be displaced due to the fire. "I can tell you that one building has about 20 units in it," said Franco. "So one building was affected in this." 60 fire crews responded to the scene, according to Franco, who added that one cat died due to the fire, but that two dogs were rescued and reunited with their families. "Our crews were able to bring the cat out and give it oxygen but unfortunately that cat did not make it," said Franco. The fire was under control by 10:20 a.m. on Thursday and CSFD investigators are now on the scene to try and determine what caused the fire. The Red Cross will be assisting families displaced, according to Franco. ORIGINAL STORY: CSFD responds to three-alarm apartment complex fire THURSDAY 9/26/2024 9:19 a.m. The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) said its crews are on the scene of a three-alarm fire at an apartment complex in southern Colorado Springs and is reporting that two floors are on fire. According to CSFD, on Thursday, Sept. 26 a little after 9 a.m. fire crews were on the scene of The Vue at Spring Creek Apartments, located near South Circle Drive and East Fountain Boulevard. CSFD is asking the public to avoid the area while crews work. FOX21 News has a crew on the way to the scene and will update this article as we learn more.
