BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — State Rep. Vanessa Caston LaFleur has invited the public to "A Promised Kept Event" to discuss innovative ways to transform District 101. The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Grace Covenant Community Church, located at 3791 Aletha Drive. Special guest State Rep. Delisha Boyd will host the event. There will also be a conversation between Shane Shepherd, Sr., a formerly incarcerated federal prisoner and now CEO of Big H.O.M.I.E.S. (Helping Other Members In Everyway Succeed) of America, and Katrice A. Albert, a member of the Council of Trustees for Big H.O.M.I.E.S. of America. A book signing will follow. The event will be held in partnership with Grace Covenant Church, the Mayor’s Safe Hopeful Healthy Baton Rouge Initiative, the Institute of Human Development, the Junior League of Baton Rouge, the East Baton Rouge Public School System, EBR Medical Association, the Baton Rouge Association of Minority Firefighters and the Volunteers of America South Central Louisiana.
