Central Ohio Weather and Radar A frontal boundary will settle across the southern portion of Ohio, which will be the focus of scattered light showers through tonight. Skies will remain overcast with sticky conditions. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid-70s, and only drop back into the upper 60s overnight. Hurricane Helene will make landfall early tonight in the Florida Panhandle, likely as a Category 3 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds around 130 mph and storm surge in excess of 15 feet. Extreme rainfall of 6 to 12 inches or more will cause serious and potentially catastrophic coastal inundation and inland flooding northward from Florida and Georgia to North Carolina. The outermost rain shield from the remnants of Hurricane Helene will push into the southern portion of Ohio toward daybreak and rotate northward, bringing periods of rain at least as far north as the I-70 corridor. Rainfall totals will range from 1 to 2 inches in the drought-stricken southern counties of Ohio, diminishing to less than a half inch in the north-central part of the state. Very little rain will reach the northern counties. A wind advisory has been issued Friday from 10 a.m. until midnight for the southwestern part of Ohio. Winds will become quite strong, gusting between 30 and 40 mph in the afternoon through early evening. Football Friday Nite will be quite breezy and humid, with lingering showers in places. The remnant low-pressure area will pivot northwest into western Kentucky early Saturday, before drifting eastward later in the weekend. The merger will pull moisture northward at times this weekend in a counterclockwise spiral, resulting in scattered showers Saturday through early next week. Cooler and drier air will arrive by the middle of the week behind the departing system that will shoved east by a strong cold front on Tuesday. Forecast Thursday: Cloudy, sticky. High 76 Tonight: Cloudy, spotty light rain. Low 68 Friday: Periods of rain, heavier south, quite breezy.
