FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- A man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Fairfax County on Thursday morning. Details about what led to the crash are limited; however, the Fairfax County Police Department said officers were on the scene of the deadly crash involving a pedestrian on Richmond Highway (Route 1) near Woodlawn Trail, in Fort Hunt, around 7:15 a.m. The pedestrian died there. Virginia Gov. Youngkin issues state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Helene Police said the driver who hit the man fled the area. As police continue their investigation, Route 1 is blocked off to all traffic at Belvoir Drive. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternative route, as of Thursday morning. This is a developing story.
