Highway chase leads to crash with serious injuries in Shawnee Co.

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A 30-year-old man from Plattsburg, MO, was seriously injured after crashing on I470 while the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) was in pursuit.
At 5:57 p.m., a Kansas Highway Patrol vehicle was chasing the 30-year-old westbound on I470. The 30-year-old lost control of the Ford Fusion he was driving and hit a guardrail on the left shoulder, according to a KHP crash log.
The 30-year-old crossed both highway lanes, struck a median barrier wall and came to rest in the right lane, according to the KHP.

The 30-year-old was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. According to the KHP, the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
