INDIANAPOLIS -- Homicide detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after a man was found dead on Wednesday afternoon in a downtown apartment. According to a news release from IMPD, officers with the downtown district were dispatched to an apartment in the 500 block of Massachusetts Avenue for a welfare check. 2 men sentenced after giving kid meth, sexually abusing them on camera When officers arrived at the apartment, they reportedly located an adult man inside an apartment who had trauma-related injuries. The man, unidentified by IMPD, was pronounced dead after additional first responders arrived at the scene. The incident was initially reported as a death investigation by IMPD on Wednesday afternoon but was later classified as a homicide on Thursday morning. Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the death, according to the release. The Marion County Coroner's Office will release the identification of the person who died once a proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
