"For us, this is life-changing," she said. "We really needed this." Reidsville woman wins $250,000 lottery prize Buff wanted to make sure the Mega Bucks ticket was real so she went back to the Vale Mart & Hardware on NC 18 in Vale, the store where she bought her ticket. She scanned the ticket and confirmed her big win. She collected her prize at the lottery headquarters and after, required state and federal tax withholding, took home $143,001. Buff says she plans to finally buy a house with her winnings.
