CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say they have arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of a 3-year-old boy in September 2021. On Friday, September 20, Datonio Stephens, 25, was located and arrested. The arrest of Stephens was made with the assistance of CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, FBI-Charlotte, the NCSBI and the Robeson County Sheriff's Office. 7-year-old boy shot while sitting outside of apartment in Burlington dies Datonio Stephens is charged with: Murder 8 counts of Attempted Murder 9 counts of Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling Conspiracy to Commit Murder Previously, three other individuals were arrested and charged in connection to the shooting. Qua’tonio Stephens was arrested and charged as an accessory after the fact. Kaleb Lawrence turned himself in shortly after the shooting and also faces murder charges. CMPD has not said whether they have arrested another suspect, Bryce Felder, whom they were originally searching for back in January 2024. What happened? On September 8, 2021, shortly before midnight, CMPD responded to reports of a shooting into a residence near the 2400 block of Richard Rozzelle Drive. Police say nearly 150 rounds went into a house occupied by 11 victims. 3-year-old Asiah Figueroa was struck and killed during the incident. His 4-year-old sister was also struck by the gunfire but survived. Detectives shared video evidence depicting multiple suspects shooting into the home.
