The FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association recently announced that the Willoughby Police Department was presented the Agency Trilogy Award, recognizing the department’s successful completion of a cutting-edge training program designed to strengthen public safety leadership and management. The Willoughby department is now the ninth law enforcement agency in Ohio to receive the award, according to a news release. The award is given to law enforcement agencies who demonstrate leadership competencies that will advance their departments and the communities they serve. The Willoughby department’s command staff completed a three-part leadership series that educated officers on best practices in diversity and inclusion, bias, public trust, transformational leadership, social and emotional intelligence and more. “The Willoughby Police Department is committed to strengthening and advancing our leadership capabilities,” Chief James Schultz stated in the release. “Receiving the Agency Trilogy Award is a great honor, and we are eager to implement the valuable insights gained from this program to enhance our daily operations and service to the community.” Each FBI-LEEDA course is designed to enhance law enforcement commanders of varying levels with leadership competencies. The courses are instructed by seasoned law enforcement leaders and public safety professionals nationwide who tailor their strong expertise to each training. “The department has showcased exceptional leadership skills, and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact they will continue to make within their community,” FBI-LEEDA Executive Director Jacques S. Battiste stated in the release. Since the inception of the Agency Trilogy Award, 149 law enforcement organizations have been awarded for excellence in leadership upon completion of the Command Leadership Institute, the Supervisor Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Institute. FBI-LEEDA is a non-profit that pursues educational excellence through public and private partnerships, offering more than 450 in-person training classes each year instructed by over 40 seasoned law enforcement officers.
