FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Every month, certain streets within the City of Fresno get a little messier than usual, and piles of trash can be seen scattering the curbs - but, according to city officials, this is all part of their operation to keep the city clean. The monthly rotating piles are part of the city's Operation Clean Up, which allows Fresno residents who pay for solid waste service to dispose of items too large for regular trash collection. This October, the disposal sites will be concentrated in western Fresno. The dates and locations of the city-approved trash dumps can be seen in the graphic below. The City asks that participating residents: Set items outside by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick up. Duct tape windows and mirrors to minimize glass debris. Cut or disassemble large objects into four-foot pieces. Limit concrete, rock, brick, or dirt disposal to a combined total of two wheelbarrow loads. Place debris away from sewer vents, water meters, mailboxes, and fire hydrants.
