GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Northeast Region held a public involvement meeting on Wednesday to discuss the future of the Mason Street Bridge in Green Bay. The meeting, held at the Neville Public Museum, showed attendees potential reconstruction options and corridor alternatives. As it stands, reconstruction or replacement of the Mason Street Bridge is scheduled for 2032. Northeast Wisconsin Technical College welcomes welding rodeo to Sturgeon Bay However, WisDOT officials mentioned a project that could be implemented in 2027, which would repair mechanical and electrical elements. A recent inspection of the bridge in 2021 confirmed deterioration that needs to be addressed to maintain its long-term operation. (Wisconsin Department of Transportation) The bridge is perfectly safe for all modes of travel. However, the current rate of deterioration is beyond what routine maintenance can address.
